In China, a dangerous virus has spread through mosquitoes
In Guangdong province in southern China, over 2,800 cases of chikungunya fever have been reported in a week, according to the Expressnews.kz agency.
According to China Central Television, no severe cases or fatalities have been reported. The majority of cases were recorded in the city of Foshan, with 2,770 cases.
According to the chief expert at the Guangdong Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Kang Min, the outbreak was not promptly contained. Due to the flood season, mosquitoes transmit diseases, making epidemic prevention and control difficult.
According to Chinese media reports, local scientists have begun releasing larvae of special large mosquitoes to eliminate the carriers of chikungunya fever.
The official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, Guo Jiakun, stated this week that chikungunya fever can be controlled and prevented in China, and that the Chinese side will continue to ensure the comfort and safety of foreign tourists.
Chikungunya fever is an infectious disease transmitted through a virus, which is passed to humans through blood-sucking insects. The disease primarily spreads through two species of mosquitoes, which can also transmit other viral diseases, such as yellow fever and dengue.
The natural areas of chikungunya fever distribution are the tropics of Africa, India, Southeast Asia, and the islands of the Indian Ocean. Seasonal epidemics are reported annually in these regions. Mexico and Guatemala are also on the list of countries where this disease is prevalent.
